Well we were sleeping pretty darn good until they came into take her blood pressure at about 2:30 or so. I can't believe they have attempted to take her blood pressure with a cuff on her ARM for the second time. Everything is supposed to be done on her leg. The first aide said after hurting her, "someone needs to put a sign on that wall", did he do it? NO. So this time I told her that they better get a sign up right now.
Mommy cried, I liked to never got her calmed down. Plus she is having some very weird dreams due to the medications so it took me a while to convince her that she wasn't distributing checks to people in the old west. Strange dreams.
She is grasping the reality of the situation in bits and pieces. It was disturbing to hear her say she'd rather be dead at one point earlier in the evening because she was having so much trouble getting back in the bed after going on the potty chair. I'm sure it was frustration. She said "this is a heck of a punishment", I told her she's not being punished and that she was the victim of an unnecessary and very preventable attack.
She is truly a trooper though, I have to hand it to her. Even Zachary told her that he is so proud of the way she is handling everything. He told her if it were him he would be freaking out. That made her feel good. She's been really happy to see him.
Kitty, one of mom's dear dear friends, is stopped by this evening and brought us a Pizza from Gino's (yum!). She held mom's hand and listen to her tell the story of the incident and just loved on my a lot. Mom loves Kitty they have a precious relationship. Kitty is going to come by at noon today so I can run a few errands and go with Zack to check on his Dad.
Mom is sleeping again...sawing logs...again, thank the good Lord and her pain meds. The apparatus on her hand is so heavy that she tells me every chance she gets that she probably doesn't need it on her hand. I keep reminding her that it's short term sacrifice for long term mobility. That seems to help her bare the idea of having it for another 6 to 12 weeks.
I'm going to try to sleep again now too. Please keep praying, it definitely helped her get a better night's rest tonight.
love to all,
Katie
PS. Does anyone know if Scott is coming in to town today? I haven't heard a word from him since Tuesday.
If anyone talks to Mike, mom would like to have her hairbrush, electric toothbrush, and some panties (they won't let her wear them yet but I think they will be removing the catheder soon).
